Joint Venture
PT Comextra Majora® is a leading exporter of cocoa beans and cashew kernels from Sulawesi-Indonesia is a long standing trusted business partner of Barry Callebaut and has a proven track record as a premier Indonesia bean exporter. Barry Callebaut the world’s leading manufacturer of high quality cocoa and chocolate products. By combining these two strengths, a joint venture company was established, PT Barry Callebaut Comextra Indonesia, and at the same time built a joint cocoa processing facility in Makassar with investment value of US$ 30 million.
This joint venture investment process takes place very quickly, with full support from the Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM). The speed up of its path can be described as follow:
- July 08, 2011, signed Letter of Intent - Sulawesi Cocoa Processing Joint Venture.
- February 2012, plant construction work began.
- August 13, 2013, factory commercial production began.
- September 03, 2013, inauguration of plant operation.
